Kin-Wei Arnold Chan, MD, SD, will join the faculty as Assistant Professor of Epidemiology on August 1, 1998.
Dr. Chan graduated from National Taiwan University (NTU) College of Medicine in 1987. After one year of clinical practice he entered the Harvard School of Public Health for further study in epidemiology. He completed the Doctor of Science program in 1992 and then became the Assistant Director of Epidemiology and Statistics of the Medical Service Department of the U.S. arm of Ciba-Geigy Corporation (now Novartis Pharmaceuticals). After a year with Ciba-Geigy, he returned to Taiwan in 1993 and became a faculty member of the newly established NTU College of Public Health. He currently holds faculty appointments at the NTU Graduate Institute of Epidemiology and Graduate Institute of Clinical Medicine. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Chan has consulted extensively for the Taiwan government on pharmaceutical regulation.
