MPH Program

Admissions Information

The Fall 2008 application for admission to the MPH degree program is available through the Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS) at www.sophas.org.

Required Materials

All applicants must complete sophas.org application.  In addition to biographical information, the application requires: 

  • a statement of purpose
  • a curriculum vitae
  • three letters of recommendation
  • official transcripts
  • GRE scores (other specific tests may be substituted under certain circumstances)

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants living in countries where English is not the language of instruction. Minimum scores of 560 on the paper-based test or 220 on the computer-based test are required, but competitive applicants generally submit higher scores (600 for the paper-based test or 240 for the computer-based test). The minimum score accepted for the IBT TOEFL is 83. 

Deadlines

For September 2008 enrollment, December 15, 2007 is the deadline for application in the priority cycle; February 15, 2007 is the deadline for the review in a second cycle. Applicants should note that the program may fill to capacity during the priority cycle.

  • MPH Program and Summer-only MPH Program (priority): December 15, 2007
  • Program in Clinical Effectiveness (PCE): February 1, 2008
  • Final deadline (MPH and Summer-only programs only): February 15, 2008
  • Summer Session (non-degree program): March 1, 2008

Summer-only MPH Admissions Information

Students applying to the Summer-only MPH program must complete the same application requirements and observe the same deadlines as all MPH applicants to the School. All Summer-only MPH degree applicants must complete the sophas.org application as well as submit the required admissions materials.

Summer-only MPH Quantitative Methods
applicants must also complete a separate Summer Session application by the March 1, 2008 deadline.

Summer-only MPH Clinical Effectiveness applicants must complete the application for the Program in Clinical Effectiveness by the February 1, 2008 deadline.
