MPH Program

Dual Degree & Summer Programs

Combined Degree Program

MD/MPH Combined Degree Program

HSPH offers medical students the opportunity to complete a Master of Public Health degree. Students currently enrolled in MD programs, who have a career interest in public health and/or preventive medicine, are eligible to apply for admission to the MPH program. Students from medical schools across the US and Canada have participated in this program. Medical students undertake the MPH program while on leave of absence between the third and fourth year of medical school. MD/MPH students receive the MPH degree upon successful completion of both programs and conferral of the doctoral degree. The MPH program serves as a required academic year for residency training in general preventive medicine, aerospace medicine, or occupational and environmental medicine.

DMD/DDS/MPH Combined Degree

HSPH offers a DMD/DDS/Master of Public Health degree. Students from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine can apply to the MPH program. The procedure is similar to that of the MD/MPH combined degree program. The same guidelines apply for admission and awarding of the MPH degree.
