Program to Eliminate Health Disparities (PEHD)
Despite the overall improvements in life expectancy in the United States, disparities in health status among sub-populations persist and are growing larger. The Division's past work has documented health disparities between racial and ethnic groups, between men and women, and between economic classes. We have also contributed to theories about the relationship between population health and social capital, and between health and the distribution of wealth. The Program to Eliminate Health Disparities is designed to take the next steps by applying new and innovative community-centered public health practice solutions that contribute to sustainable social transformation efforts.
