Update: Support Haiti Earthquake Relief
Harvard President Drew Faust has announced a dedicated web page with a list of organizations providing humanitarian aid to the people of Haiti.
Also: Information about Harvard’s response to the humanitarian crisis in Haiti will be collected on this web page. Check for updates.
Dear HSPH Community,
Our thoughts are with the people in Haiti, which experienced a devastating earthquake on Tuesday. Tens of thousands of people are feared dead, and survivors face mounting public health challenges.
HSPH does not have students in Haiti participating in regular Winter Session travel courses nor, to our knowledge, were there any students working there independently at the time of the earthquake. There are no students from Haiti currently registered at our School. Faculty Affairs is attempting to ascertain if any HSPH personnel are in Haiti.
The Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) is offering updates on the situation in Haiti via twitter at: http://twitter.com/HHI Our colleagues in Partners in Health are actively involved in the relief effort.
In the wake of this devastation, we recognize that members of our School may be seeking emotional support and other resources. Harvard's Employee Assistance Program provides confidential assessment and referral services. The phone number is 1-877-327-4278 (1-877-EAP-HARV). HSPH students in need of support are encouraged to contact Andy Eisenmann in Student Affairs at 617-432-1542 and aeisenma@hsph.harvard.edu
More information will be made available regarding ways to contribute to relief efforts.
Thank you as always for your compassion and concern.
Sincerely,
Julio Frenk
Dean of the Faculty
