Program Dates: July 6, 2009 - August 21, 2009
The Harvard School of Public Health Summer Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) has been described by some of its participants as a rewarding program that has produced positive experiences to last a lifetime. For twenty-five years, the School has sponsored and managed this 7 week paid program, while watching its graduates move on to successful careers in health sciences, after first completing undergraduate and then graduate degrees in areas such as medicine, biological sciences, social work, public health and veterinary medicine, to name a few.
Individuals selected must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents, 15 years old by the start of the program, and be sophomores, juniors or seniors in the Fall of 2009. Students who possess a strong interest in the health sciences and related research are encouraged to apply for this paid internship. Boston residency or attendance of a Boston city school is required. Selected students will participate in a multifaceted program that will include relevant work experience in either a laboratory or behavioral science setting. Students chosen are required to complete the full 7 weeks of the program.
The Human Resources Office offers support, mentoring activities, seminars and enriching outings. At the end of the program, each student will present his/her research experience to an audience of their parents, supervisors, coworkers and friends.
