Practice Safe Computing at HSPH

In light of the January 3, 2007 spam email outbreak caused by a user from within the school, we would like to remind everyone of the following:

The I/T Dept has several systems in operation at the school, including:
1) McAfee Anti-Virus software
2) Guardian Anti-Spam filtering
3) Automated Microsoft security patching
4) Automated applications software patching

Please do not remove, disable, or tamper with any of these systems once they have been installed on your computer by I/T. They are for everyone’s protection. This software has been site licensed to cover all faculty, staff, and students at SPH. If you log in to our Novell server, you are automatically covered by these systems. If you do not use our Novell server, please contact our Helpdesk to arrange for these protective systems to be provided at no cost to you. (email: helpdesk@hsph.harvard.edu or phone: 432-help)

Our site license of the McAfee anti-virus software also covers home use as well, for as long as you are a member of SPH. You can download the software from our I/T Dept. website at: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/itnew/downloads/
