Inclement Weather

HSPH Inclement Weather Policy

Please review new guidelines:

  • The School of Public Health will always remain open during snow storms or severe weather conditions to maintain resident housing, animal facility and laboratory experiments.
  • Classes can be cancelled due to the inclement weather; in that case the School will go to a "designated personnel-only" policy. All other personnel will be encouraged to stay home.
  • Each department will be responsible for deciding who to name as "designated personnel." The department list may vary based on changing needs and projects.
Notification of Cancelled Classes: Television stations News 4 New England, 7 News, News Center 5 and radio stations WBZ 1030/AM and WRKO 680/AM will be notified to announce the cancellation of classes. The 617-432-NEWS recording will be made, and a telephone chain will be initiated by the Deans's Office to contact all department chairpersons.

HSPH News Hotline: 617-432-NEWS

The HSPH News Hotline contains information about school cancellations; upcoming construction projects which might affect HSPH labs, offices or classrooms; and all system shutdowns (steam, distilled water, water, and electricity)

Please call Operations at 617-432-1153 if you have questions about the HOTLINE or weather cancellations.

School closings and reopenings will also be displayed on the Harvard School of Public Health homepage at http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/.

Thank you,
HSPH Operations Office
