Building a Doctoral Student Community
Being a doctoral student at HSPH is challenging. Often one's academic pursuits can overshadow the importance of balancing your personal life and professional life. The Office for Student Affairs (OSA) is committed to building a doctoral student community where peers and colleagues can share their experiences as they work toward their degree completion.
The newly formed doctoral student committee works with Student Affairs to develop programming and events to foster a community of learning, socializing, and surviving.
Contact the OSA for more information.
Graduate Student Assistance Program
The world of a graduate student has many intertwining demands of work, personal, and academic life. Finding the best resource to help resolve unanticipated child or elder care needs, complex legal situations, or financial concerns can be distracting and time-consuming. Harvard understands this, and we are committed to helping our graduate students realize their full academic potential.
The GSAP is designed to provide doctoral students with a free, confidential and efficient way to access services that assist with individual life balance needs. The GSAP is not a cash-grant or loan program; instead, it provides a range of services at low or no cost to help graduate students find the right solutions for their individual situations.
Doctoral students and their immediate family members are eligible. Best of all, access is available 24 hours a day via the web site at: http://harvardgrad.personaladvantage.com or by calling the toll-free line at 1-800-670-7194. There is no registration required when calling the toll-free number, however, please note that there is a one-time registration process to access the confidential, pin-protected web site. To register, click on "New members register here". Contact the Office for Student Affairs for the login information. Follow instructions to complete the registration. The GSAP will not provide Harvard with any utilization information that contains personally identifying information.
