Outdoor Activities

Rent a kayak or canoe per hour or for the day at Charles River Canoe and Kayak,  1071 Soldiers Field Road.  Canoe rentals start from $16/hr and Kayak rentals from $15/hr.

Visit Singing Beach at Manchester-by-the-Sea.  Less than one hour away by Commuter Rail.  Take the Rockport line from North Station to Manchester and walk 1/2 mile to the beach.

Explore the Boston Harbor Islands by taking a ferry from the Long Wharf North at Charles Columbus Park.  Ferries leave every hour beginning at 9am-5pm, M-TH and 9am-6pm, Fri-Sun.  Roundtrip: $14/adult, $8/child.   

Hike the Blue Hills at the Blue Hills Reservation in Quincy.  Over 7,000 acres of outdoor fun!  

Visit the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University in Forest Hills.  It's the oldest public arboretum in North America and one of the world's leading centers for the study of plants.

Authentic Boston

Visit the Old Ironside “USS Constitution” and Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown near MBTA's North Station.

Eat at the Barking Crab—a genuine crab shack along the canal on Fort Point Landing.  Close to MBTA South Station (88 Sleeper St, Boston).

Discover the North End—Boston’s Little Italy and eat a delicious cannoli from Mike’s Pastry, 300 Hanover St., Boston.

Walk the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston and visit many historic sites.  The trail begins by the Park Street MBTA line stop.  Either walk with a tour or follow the map and discover the sites for free on your own.  

Visit the New England Aquarium and go on a Whale Watch

Go to a Red Sox game in Fenway Park!
