International Student Services

Harvard International Office

The Harvard International Office (HIO) offers information to students from other countries intended to help you adjust to life at Harvard more easily. The office advises on visa and immigration matters as well as personal matters (housing, volunteer and work opportunities for partners, etc).

HIO functions as a liaison to US Government agencies and offers such programs as orientation, tax seminars, and a variety of cross-cultural activities. The International Office publishes a handbook for international students, scholars and families, which is given to those who register with the HIO. Printed information on subjects ranging from grocery shopping to tourism is also available. All international students are required to check in at the International Office prior to registration for classes.
