Anticipated financial aid credit on your student e-bill is a credit that is expected to post to your billing account. This anticipated aid is reflected based on our office's records of financial aid awarded to you by our office, within HSPH, our externally as reported by a sponsor, scholarship organization, or yourself. We send this data to the Student Receivables Office prior to registration periods. Anticipated aid is updated frequently to ensure that your account is up-to-date.

Anticipated financial aid credits are not gauranteed and while we make every effort to ensure that all anticipated aid is correct, we reserve the right to amend any errors in awards.

Please complete the Credit Balance Refund Form and submit it to the Office of Student Financial Services via e-mail, fax, or mail.

The priority application deadline is February 6th for new students and March 13th for returning students this year. Applying by the priority deadline is best as it guarantees applicants full consideration for all scholarships and grants that our office offers for which they may be eligible. However, new students and returning students may still apply after this priority deadline as some scholarships and grants may not be decided until late March or early April. Also, students (U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents) who are only interested federal aid may apply at any time up until April 30, 2010.

There are several repayment options to choose from, but the Standard Repayment length is 10 years (120 payments). There are loan calculators at: http://www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DirectLoan/RepayCalc/dlentry1.html so you can see how the various repayment options work in terms of monthly amounts and total payments.
Yes. A student has up to 120 days after a federal loan has disbursed to return any portion of this loan without penalty or interest charges.

Students who wish to cancel a portion of their non-federal loan (i.e. - CitiAssist, etc.) may also do so, but may be assessed interest or penalties. Students should contact their specific lender for further information or refer to the terms and conditions in their promissory note.

If you wish to cancel a portion of your loan, you should send an e-mail to our office at osfs@hsph.harvard.edu from your HSPH e-mail account, stating the type of loan/s you wish to cancel, and in what amount/s.

Federal Perkins Loan Program - 5% fixed
William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program - 6.8 % fixed
Direct GradPLUS Loan Program - 7.9% fixed

Please see our website for more detailed information on the various federal loan programs.

No federal loans are granted during the summer period (this includes Federal Perkins, Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans, and Direct GradPLUS Loans). However, students in a summer degree program may request supplemental loans during the summer.
The Resolution of Loans in Excess Document is an alert to the student and to our office that a student is at or approaching the aggregate borrowing limits for certain federal loan programs. This will be reviewed by Student Financial Services and should we require further resolution from you, you will be sent an e-mail.

Please check that you have used the correct federal school code on the FAFSA (HSPH's is: E00214). Many students accidentally select the code for Harvard College, and if you have done so, we will not receive the report. Please also check that you have filed your FAFSA for the correct award year. If you have used the correct code and filed in the correct award year, please e-mail Majida Coleman at majidaco@hsph.harvard.edu

Students who will be enrolled in the upcoming award year may qualify for summer Federal Work Study if there is "financial need" and if there is available funding. Our Federal Work Study allocation is limited so we award for the academic year (fall/spring) first and then consider summer requests. Any award made is included as a resource in the upcoming award year so it may limit borrowing during the school year. If you are interested in summer Federal Work Study, please e-mail Mary Lee Venuti at mvenuti@hsph.harvard.edu

No, HSPH does not require any parental information - we only require student and spouse's information (if you are married).
