Eligible applicants for the MPH program should:
- Be a health professional who is preparing for advancement in an organization or for transition into public health.
- Hold a doctoral degree (or non-U.S. equivalent) in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, law, or other fields related to public health or a prior master’s degree in a health-related field with at least three years of health-related work experience following completion of the master’s.
- Hold clearly identified career goals relevant to the program and demonstrate a strong academic background.

Doctoral Degree Applicants
Accepted degrees include: MD, DO, MBBS, MBBCh, DPM, DMD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, OD, PhD, ScD, JD. Please contact the MPH Program Office for questions regarding other doctoral degrees.
Master’s Degree Applicants
Accepted degrees include: MSN, MSW, MBA, SM. Please contact the MPH Program Office, housed in the Office of Education, for questions regarding other master’s degrees.
Applicants who hold a master’s degree should also have at least three to five years of health-related work experience.
Medical and Dental Students
Students currently enrolled in accredited U.S.-based MD, DO, DMD, or DDS programs (and JD/MPH students at Harvard Law School), who have a career interest in public health and/or preventive medicine, also are eligible to apply for admission to the MPH program. Medical and dental students undertake the MPH program while on leave of absence between the third and fourth year of medical or dental school. For more information: MPH Dual Degrees
