Dear Prospective Applicant,
Greetings and thank you for your interest in the Harvard School of Public Health. As you consider graduate studies in the field of public health, I am sure you are quickly realizing the wide variety of degrees, departments and programs available across all the schools of public health. That is why I’d like to say that we in the admissions office are on your side as you are trying to find the right match. Our job is to make sure you have accurate information as to what the Harvard School of Public Health may offer.
- Do you just have an undergraduate degree? No problem! You would be in good company with 80% of our 2-year Master of Science students who have similar credentials. Take a look at our degree requirements.
- Are you interested in studying behavorial sciences or social epidemiology? We have it! Our department is called Social and Behavioral Sciences, and it offers studies in Maternal and Child Health as well as Health Communications.
- Interested in Health Informatics? That would be in our Biostatistics department – a great department for math majors.
- Not sure what to major in? Consider epidemiology – the foundation of public health. They offer twelve concentrations including infectious diseases and nutritional epidemiology.

When considering graduate studies, it’s not just academic offering and faculty that make up the school but the students with their passion and experience they bring to the classroom. Finally, Dean Julio Frenk reminds us that one important thing that separates us from other schools of public heath is that we are part of a great university. You are able to cross register for classes at Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and anywhere within Harvard University and MIT!
