The information contained on this page explains the fall Check-in process at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH). Please read the enclosed materials carefully; as they will simplify the Check-in process for you. We regret that the Registrar's Office is unable to accommodate requests for early registration. Registration begins at the CHECK-IN STATION. There you will be given check-in and orientation materials. You will then be directed to specific stations, depending on your registration status. Below you will find detailed information about each station. Please review your materials as indicated by the check-in staff and proceed to all required stations.
If your registration materials have a green sticker, congratulations, you have met all registration requirements and are clear to register! Please proceed to the GREEN / REGISTRAR'S OFFICE STATION. You will be given your registration packet that details how to finalize your registration for courses via the School of Public Health's on-line registration system OASIS. If your registration materials have a yellow sticker, there is a contingency on your registration. Please proceed to the YELLOW STATION to clear your registration. Conditional registration status means you have not met one or more of the following registration requirements:

New students must meet all admissions contingencies specified in their letters of admission prior to registration. Students with outstanding contingencies may be withdrawn from degree candidacy. Continuing doctoral students must be in compliance with the doctoral timetable outlined in the HSPH Student Handbook. Students who have not maintained the timetable must submit the appropriate forms to the Registrar's Office by September 14, 2007.

If your registration materials have a blue sticker, there is a hold on your registration. Please proceed to the BLUE STATION to clear your registration. This hold status means you have not met one or more of the following registration requirements:
You will not receive a registration packet until you have cleared your registration hold (check-in requirements are outlined below). If you do not clear your registration hold by Friday, August 29, 2008, you will be administratively withdrawn from degree candidacy.
International students must submit visa and passport information to the Harvard University International Office (HIO) for verification. The International Office will issue you a 'blue slip' once this information is verified. The blue slip must be submitted to the Admissions Office in order to be clear for registration. The International Office is located on the 8th floor of Holyoke Center in Cambridge. A representative from the International Office will be available to meet with you at the School of Public Health during registration check-in on August 25, 2008. International students who have not submitted a blue slip will be allowed to register conditionally until August 29, 2008. Those who have not submitted a blue slip by the deadline will be withdrawn from degree candidacy. If you have any questions about your visa, please contact the Admissions Office at (617) 432-1031.

If your registration materials have a purple sticker, there is a hold on your registration. Please proceed to the PURPLE STATION to clear your registration. This hold status means you have not met the following registration requirement:
The Harvard School of Public Health requires that all degree candidates present documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella, diphtheria and tetanus before registering. You must either present documentation that you have received the appropriate vaccine(s) or submit documentation of a blood test showing antibodies to the measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria Hepatitis B, Meningococcal and tetanus. The only circumstances under which you may be exempt are: 1. You provide written certification from an examining physician that your physical condition is such that one or more of the required immunizations would endanger your health (especially for pregnant women or women attempting pregnancy). 2. You state in writing that the required immunizations conflict with your religious beliefs. Students who have not submitted proper documentation will not be allowed to register and will be withdrawn from degree candidacy if the requirement is not met by August 31, 2007. As noted on the Admitted Student Website, all new students should visit http://huhs.harvard.edu and click "New Student" to access medical forms, immunization requirements, and Student Health Plan information. If you need more information on the immunization requirement, please contact Harvard University Health Services at (617) 432-1370. If you have not received an immunization documentation form from the Admissions Office, please contact them at (617) 432-1031.

If you are given a red sticker, there is a hold on your registration. Please proceed to the RED STATION to clear your registration. Registration hold status means you have not met the following registration requirement. You will not receive a registration packet until you have cleared your registration hold (check-in requirements are outlined below). If you do not clear your registration hold by Friday, August 31, 2007 (new students) or by Friday, September 7, 2007 (returning students) you will be administratively withdrawn from degree candidacy. To fulfill financial requirements, a student must pay all past charges due to the University and must take one of the following actions toward payment of the current semester's charges:
For loan information, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services at (617) 432-1867. Any student whose indebtedness to the University remains unpaid by the following dates will be withdrawn from degree candidacy.

Please note that if you are requesting a deferral of your admission, the deadline to make such a request is Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Deferral requests must be made to the Admissions Office in writing. The request should include the reason for the deferral. Deferrals are subject to the approval of the department. Send deferral requests to the HSPH Admissions Office, 158 Longwood Avenue, Room G4, Boston MA 02115, Attn: Deferral Request. Once you have been to all the required check-in stations, the next stop is the photo-capture station to have your picture taken for your permanent photo ID card (new students only). New students will be issued a temporary ID card. You will be notified via your HSPH email account when your permanent ID card is available for pick-up at the Registrar's Office. Returning students: Please note that if you are continuing on in the same degree program, your current ID card is still valid. You will not be issued a new card at Registration Check-In.
The name of your advisor will be on your registration packet label. You should schedule an appointment with him/her as soon as possible to discuss the appropriate selection of courses for your degree program. Please keep in mind that some faculty members have offices located off the HSPH campus. Your advisor should have an appointment sign-up sheet on his/her door. Your registration is considered finalized only after you print out a copy of your course information from OASIS, obtain all appropriate signatures (including instructors' if indicated) and submit your print out to the Registrar's Office no later than Friday, September 14, 2007. If you submit your registration print out to the Registrar's Office prior to the registration deadline, and then make additional changes on OASIS, you must submit a new print out to the Registrar's Office with the required signatures.
