Anthony Dias, MD, MPH '04

Dias Portrait (AnthonyDias.jpg)Dr. Anthony Dias graduated with a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Policy and Management from Harvard School of Public Health in June 2004. While at HSPH, Dr. Dias participated in the Alumni Mentoring program, and was a MPH representative of the Student Government and Vice President of Students for Socially Responsible Endeavors group. Subsequently, Dr. Dias was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Healthcare Management at the Harvard University Health Services (HUHS). Until recently, Dr. Dias was in a leadership position in Healthcare Services at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts with responsibilities in operational, clinical, financial and utilization results management. One of Dr. Dias’ major achievements was the implementation of measurement system, processes and toolsets across Healthcare Services.
 
Dr. Dias completed his medical education in Goa, India before completing his residency training initially in neurosurgery and subsequently in psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. As an entrepreneurial expression in medical tourism, Dr. Dias founded a medical assistance company in Goa, to cater to traveling Europeans visiting Goa, a favorite tourist destination. The company provided comprehensive healthcare experience for the tourists in a pleasant and friendly environment. Dr. Dias also initiated and led numerous public health ventures in remote villages of Goa, organizing weekend free clinics for the underprivileged under the auspices of the Church in Goa.
 
As Director of Operations Management of Behavioral Health at Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, Massachusetts, Dr. Dias helped establish performance improvement initiatives and helped implement new programs. Later, as a research consultant for the Department of Mental Health (DMH), Dr. Dias worked with the DMH Area Director to develop Advanced Care Directives workbook for the mentally ill patients in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and also data analysis supporting end of life care for mentally ill patients.
 
As a Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr. Dias worked on operational and management processes related to departmental restructuring and integration of healthcare services at Harvard University Health Services. Dr. Dias also supported information synthesis related to College Health and Alcohol, at the Behavioral Health and Academic Counseling Department.
 
Currently, Dr. Dias is a member of the Alumni Council at HSPH, a Coach for HSPH Career Services Office, and a number of HSPH committees. Dr. Dias is also affiliated with numerous organizations including the Massachusetts Medical Society.
