Roderick K. King, MD, MPH '98
Dr. King is currently
Senior Faculty at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Disparities Solutions Center and an Instructor in the Department of Global
Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Dr. King was
selected in 2006 as one of two Inaugural Institute of Medicine (IOM)- National
Academy of Sciences Anniversary Fellows where he serves on the Board on Global
Health. He most recently served as
the Director for the Health Resources and Services Administration, New
England Regional Division, the youngest ever appointed, and as a Commander in
the US Public Health Service, U.S. DHHS where he was responsible for the
overall leadership and management of the HRSA Boston Field Office staff and
programs. Dr. King earned a BS degree in
Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree
from Cornell University Medical College with honors in research. Upon completing
a residency in pediatrics at the Children's National Medical Center, Washington,
D.C. in 1995, he received the Teachers for Africa Award and served as a Senior
Lecturer for two years at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, West Africa,
lecturing on public health to those providing care to populations in rural
areas.
