Dr. Meropi Violaki-Paraskeva, MPH, of Athens, Greece, visited the Office of Alumni Programs last June. The meeting brought fond memories of her years at Harvard while looking at class photos displayed in the Kresge Building. Dr. Violaki-Paraskeva is the Honorary Director General of Health in Greece.

Dr. Muhammad Iliyas, MPH, retired as dean of community health sciences at Baqai Medical University in Pakistan in the spring of 2005. Dr. Iliyas will be 90 years old in May 2005 and is concentrating on updating the 6th edition of Community Health Sciences.

Dr. Hilliard D. Estes, MPH, of Vacaville, California passed away on August 23, 2003.

Matthew Huxley, SM, an epidemiologist at the National Institute of Mental Health and the son of author Aldous Huxley, died on February 10, 2005 at the age of 84 in Reading, Pennsylvania

Dr. Calvin W. Schwabe, MPH, SD, died on June 24 in his home in Haverford, Pennsylvania. He was 79. A global authority on diseases communicable from animals to man, Schwabe pioneered the concept of "One Medicine," which strives towards bringing human and veterinary medicine together to improve the public's health and well-being around the world. E. Barbara Stocking, MPH, died in August 2004. Mrs. Stocking was a faculty member of the School of Public Health at the Universtiy of Minnesto from 1957 to 1962, and joined the Department of Maternal and Child Health in the School of Publich Health at the University of North Carolina from 1962 until her retirement in 1981.
