The HSPH community was saddened to learn of the tragic death of Professor Steve Lagakos, his wife and his mother in an automobile accident on Monday, October 11.  A remembrance and press release is posted on the HSPH Communications web page. The entire HSPH community extends its deepest sympathy to the surviving members of Prof. Lagakos' family.

A funeral for Prof. Steve Lagakos, his wife Regina and mother Helen is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church and Society of Rindge, N.H. The address is 200 Main St. in Rindge (603.899.5722). The three family members were killed in a car collision Monday in Peterborough, N.H.

After the service, there will be a small reception at the church. Attendees from the HSPH community will be welcomed at both events. The church posts these directions on its web site, http://www.rindgeucc.org/location/new-location.html  

In lieu of flowers, a fund is being established for gifts given in memory of Steve, Regina, and Helen Lagakos. Gifts may be sent to:

The Harvard School of Public Health was saddened to learn of the recent passing of three members of our community, Dr. Mark Hegsted, a founding member of our Department of Nutrition, on Tuesday, June 16, Armen H. Tashjian, Jr., Professor of Toxicology, Emeritus, and former chair of the then-named Department of Molecular and Cellular Toxicology on Friday, July 3, 2009 and Dr. Jeremiah (Jere) Mead, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Environmental Health, on July 4, 2009.
