How HSPH Can Help Tsunami Relief

Program on Humanitarian Crises and Human Rights
From Dean Bloom
Dear Members of our Community:
All of us at HSPH have been deeply affected by news of the devastation
wreaked on South Asia and Africa by the recent tsunamis and the continuing
plight of untold thousands of survivors. I have been asked by many in
our community how we can be helpful to these survivors. It is my understanding
that only people with real experience in disaster relief can at this time
be helpful in the situation and that, for most of us, the best way to
help is to contribute funds to established relief organizations already
working in the region. These contributions could make a significant
difference in both the short and long terms to the health and well-being
of the survivors.
For those in the HSPH community who wish to help, please follow the "Make
a Contribution" link that allows contributions to many established
organizations with experience in disaster relief. Audrey Smith in the
Dean's Office will have additional information on how to contribute if
you need help or advice. She can be reached at 617 432-4397 or asmith@hsph.harvard.edu.
As a member of the School community, if you do choose to contribute, it
would be helpful to learn of your gift by e-mail to Audrey at the address
above.
My sincere thanks to all of you who are concerned and wish to help.
And my warm best wishes for a healthy, productive and rewarding New Year.
Yours sincerely,
Barry R. Bloom
