Winter Storms and School Closings

Winter is approaching, bringing along its contingent of seasonal storms ranging from annoying to dangerous. In general, the school's teaching and research activities continue regardless of the weather. However, in the case of the rare, severe storm, the dean may elect to close the school in the interest of faculty, staff, and student safety.

If the school does close due to the weather, reports of the closing will be carried on television channels 4, 5, and 7 and on radio stations WBZ 1030AM and WRKO 680AM. HSPH also has a telephone news hotline providing recorded notices of timely news, including any official closings of the school. The hotline can be reached by calling 432-NEWS (432-6397).

The complete, official HSPH policy on inclement weather can be found on the school's website at www.hsph.harvard.edu/Admins/weather.html, or can be obtained from department administrators.
