Second Annual Julius B. Richmond Lecture and Dinner

The second annual Julius B. Richmond Lecture and Dinner Elders gave a rousing talk that centered on the ideas that poverty is the primary public health problem facing the US and that education is the foundation of health. "Health is more than the absence of disease," she said. "Good public health is about education, economics, and schools. It's about all of the things that go on in our lives."

The event was sponsored by the Division of Public Health Practice. Deborah Prothrow-Stith, director of the division, has described the lecture as an "opportunity to honor our esteemed colleague, Julius Richmond, for his outstanding work and the generation of practitioners that he has inspired." Richmond is professor of health policy emeritus at HSPH.
