Recruitment of Minority Women into Research Trials Topic of Conference The Harvard Medical School Center of Excellence in Women's Health (CoE), an affiliate of HSPH, will present "Recruiting Minority Women into Clinical Research Trials: The Intersection of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, Community, and Academia" on Friday, March 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Inn at Longwood Medical (The Galleria). Researchers from within and outside Harvard will present. CoE has also invited women representatives of minority communities in Boston to participate. Conference attendees will develop strategies for increasing minority women participation in research trials by working in small groups during breakout sessions. HSPH researchers Linda Clayton and Brian Gibbs, both of the Division of Public Health Practice, will help conduct two of these sessions. Participants will also be asked to describe minority womens' concerns about medical research from historical and community perspectives; discuss barriers to minority women participating in research trials from womens' and researchers' perspectives; and more. The keynote speaker will be Shiriki Kumanyika of the University of Pennsylvania. For more information or to RSVP, contact Stephanie Mandell by e-mail
