Academic Affairs Collecting Previously Used Journals to Distribute Abroad

They may be used as doorstops. Or convenient places on which to rest coffee cups. Or maybe they have been long forgotten, resting on bookshelves. But Academic Affairs wants them: medical and health journals from faculty members who no longer need them.

The journals will be given to academic institutions and libraries overseas as part of a project called Harvard Biomedical Information Redistribution Drive (H-BIRD). Due to limited storage space, Academic Affairs is currently only able to take complete sets of journals no more than seven years old.

Questions about how to coordinate moving the journals into storage or other queries can be directed to Debbie Mattina, coordinator in the Office of Academic Affairs, at dmattina@hsph.harvard.edu or 432-1327, or Deanna Paquet, staff assistant in the Office of Academic Affairs, at dpaquet@hsph.harvard.edu.
