Intern with NGOs this Summer Bhumi, the Harvard International Development Group, is offering information about summer internships with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) around the world. Started in 1996 by a group of undergraduates at HU, Bhumi creates opportunities for Harvard students to volunteer at NGOs in developing countries. Bhumi members contact the NGOs primarily through people who have previously worked at the organization. The NGOs specify the terms of the internship and skills they want in an intern. Bhumi members then put Harvard students in touch with the NGOs. The program is open to students with varying degrees of experience, including those who have never been to a developing country or who have no experience with development issues. An orientation program will be held in the spring to prepare interns for their summer experience. This year Bhumi has contacts with organizations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Internships are available in several fields, including education, women's advocacy and the environment. For more information about the Bhumi internships and to apply, visit www.bhumi.net. Completed applications are due on March 9 by 5 p.m. Limited
funding is currently available.
