In Memoriam: Jonathan Freeman

Jonathan Freeman, lecturer on epidemiology, passed away on May 23. He died from complications of lymphoma at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He joined the faculty of the Department of Epidemiology in 1990 after having earned both master's and doctoral degrees at HSPH.

Freeman's research at HSPH focused on infections occurring in hospitalized patients. He was also dedicated to improving the school's programs in infectious disease epidemiology, forming the Interdisciplinary Program in Infectious Disease in the 1990s.

Freeman is survived by his wife Elsie and by his children Noah and Esther. A private service for the family will be held this weekend. A memorial service for the HSPH community is scheduled for Wednesday, May 31 outside of the Kresge cafeteria at 4:00 p.m.
