HSPH Student Receives Award

Congratulations to Haiyan Xu, doctoral student in the Division of Biological Sciences, for winning the Medical Sigma Xi Harvard-Radcliffe Chapter Scientific Recognition Award! She received the award for her work, "Increased Expression of Transmembrane TNF in Adipose Tissue: A Local Regulator of Fat Mass and Mediator of Obesity-linked Insulin Resistance," an investigation into the molecular basis of obesity-induced diabetes.

Xu and her coauthor and advisor, Gökhan Hotamisligil, assistant professor of nutrition, were presented with the award at the Sigma Xi Spring Banquet on May 5 at the Harvard Faculty Club.
