HSPH and Neighbors to Walk Together

The third annual Mission Hill Walk for Health will take place on September 26, from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The walk is a collaborative event sponsored by diverse members of the Mission Hill community, including such academic and medical institutions as HSPH and Brigham and Women's Hospital, and community agencies including the Mission Hill Community Center.

Walk organizers describe the event as having two goals. One, the walk is a fundraiser to benefit agencies that serve Mission Hill youth. Participants are encouraged to enlist sponsors to pledge money. This year's goal is to raise $100,000 for distribution to the youth programs.

The second goal is to provide an event that will bring the Mission Hill community together to participate in something as a group. The walk is expected to draw from a mix of people who live, work, and study in the neighborhood. The walk is an opportunity for the people who share the neighborhood to meet each other and explore the streets of Mission Hill.

The day will begin with registration and warm-up exercises at 8:00 a.m. at the entrance to the Brigham and Women's Hospital at 15 Francis Street- the corner of Francis Street and Huntington Avenue. The 7.5-kilometer route will pass neighborhood sites of historic or architectural interest.
