In Memoriam: David Bell David Bell, professor emeritus, passed away on September 6 after a brief illness. He died peacefully at home with his family present. Bell is remembered as a wise and gracious leader in the school's faculty and a mentor to many young professionals pursuing careers in international health. He came to HSPH in 1981 and was the Clarence James Gamble Professor of Population Sciences and International Health, former chair of the Department of Population Sciences, and former director of the Center for Population Studies. He became professor emeritus in 1988. A fellowship was established in his honor at the center in 1991, helping to host fellows with the objective of preparing scholars, managers, and policy makers for leadership roles in developing countries. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Brattleboro Area AIDS Project, PO Box 1486, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
