Education and Training
In addition to its research role, the Botswana-Harvard HIV Reference Laboratory serves as a training facility, helping to build the professional infrastructure of Botswana by training the nation’s future researchers and laboratory technicians. As expressed by His Excellency President Festus Mogae, "this laboratory stands as a tangible example of this Partnership, and it forges a permanent link between health and education, two sectors that are pivotal in our fight against the HIV and AIDS epidemics".

Fogarty Training Program
For almost 15 years, the Fogarty International Training Program in AIDS-Related Epidemiology (AITRP), has brought biomedical researchers and health care workers from resource-scarce countries to Harvard University to train in AIDS research techniques and procedures.

KITSO AIDS Training Program
The KITSO AIDS Training Program provides quality, multi-disciplinary, sustainable and standardized training in HIV and AIDS care, crafted specifically for Botswana’s health professionals.
