In alignment with the needs of Masa, the Botswana-Harvard PEPFAR program will address three critical areas training, monitoring and evaluation. In response to the urgent need of trained health care professionals, BHP-PEPFAR will create a Master Trainer Corps of local HIV/AIDS Care Trainers. These Master Trainers will 1) provide on-site training and logistical support to new and existing ARV treatment sites; 2) create Train the Trainer courses for sites with existing ARV treatment; 3) help decongest larger sites through training and logistical support for nearby new sites; and 4) provide linkages to other HIV/AIDS efforts that would benefit from ARV therapy. In addition to the Clinical Master Trainer effort, the laboratory and other technical training efforts to the ARV treatment sites are being expanded as well through a Laboratory and Technical Master Trainer Corps. Just as important, the Botswana-Harvard PEPFAR program is working to expand the Monitoring and Evaluation/Data Management capabilities of Masa.
