The
main aim of the bioinformatics core group at Harvard School of Public
Health is to promote the collaboration/communication between the
biostatistics department and other biologists in the school in bioinformatics
research and applications.
Planned
Activities
*
Provide training on the usage of basic bioinformatics tools, include
website, database, program, and software packages, by short courses,
seminars and workshops, or web-based documents.
*
Consulting and services to biological studies, helping biological
researchers in experimental design, power analysis and data analysis,
and provide supports include software installation, data base search
and computational supports.
*
Coordinate bioinformatics activities within the HSPH, promote the
communications between different research groups, and between biological
groups and computational groups.
*
Collaboration and communications with other Bioinformatics groups
at Harvard community.
*
Create a good environment for training graduate students choosing
Bioinformatics as research direction.
*
Develop major impacts on selected areas in Bioinformatics by collaborating
with biological researchers and attending research projects, and
develop novel bioinformatics tools, methods and software through
the collaboration.
