Brendan Manning, associate professor of genetics and complex diseases, received a 2012 Senior Scholar in Aging Award from The Ellison Medical Foundation for his research on determining the genetic and metabolic relationship between the major longevity pathways in mammals. With the Sr. Scholar Awards, The Ellison Medical Foundation aims “to stimulate new research that has rigorous scientific foundations but is not funded adequately, either because of its perceived novelty, its high risk, or because it is from an area where traditional research interests absorb most funding,” according to its website.
William Mair, assistant professor of genetics and complex diseases, received a 2012 New Scholar in Aging Award from The Ellison Medical Foundation for his work on uncoupling positive and negative effects of dietary restriction. Bernardo Lemos, assistant professor of environmental epigenetics, a 2012 New Scholar in Aging Award from The Ellison Medical Foundation for his work on genomic architecture of germline-soma feedbacks during aging. The New Scholar in Aging awards honor investigators who are in the early stage of their careers and show “outstanding promise in aging research.”
