Researching Social Inequalities in Health

The annual Workshop on Health Disparities was held on June 12, 2000, at the Harvard School of Public Health. The workshop entitled, Researching Social Inequalities in Health, was sponsored by the Departments of Biostatistics. Funding for the workshop is provided by the the National Institutes of Health and Merck Research Laboratories, which also provide funds for the Summer Minority Programs.

The workshop is an effort to provide researchers, post and predoctoral students and doctors with some initiatives on community-based research nationwide. Six speakers presented a variety of research projects ranging from a local Asthma study to nutrition study for African-Americans. The workshops attendance exceeded expectations.
