James Ware Named HSPH Acting Dean
James Ware, who is the HSPH Frederick Mosteller Professor of Biostatistics, has been serving as the School's Acting Dean since July 1, when the former Dean, Harvey V. Fineberg, took the position of Provost of the University. Dean Ware has been a member of the School of Public Health for 18 years and served as the Dean for Academic Affairs since 1990. He is known for his statistical research on the design and analysis of longitudinal studies and for methodology for the analysis of environmental health data. He is a co-investigator of the Six Cities Study of Air Pollution and Health as well as the Director of the Coordinating Center for Treatment of Lead Exposed Children Trial. Before coming to HSPH, Dean Ware was a mathematical statistician at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
