Limits of current economic analyses of the demand for illicit drugs.

Abstract

The article focuses on the limits of current economic analysis of the demand for illicit drugs. It was emphasized that understanding how the dependent populations respond to the price change of a drug and understanding of the relative effectiveness of prevention strategies that target the different determinant for drugs are the important role of the economists. The two areas in which the economists should focus concerning the demand for drugs are discussed.
