Summer-Only SM in Epidemiology
This degree program equips clinicians who aspire to clinical research careers with the necessary quantitative skills. Candidates must be physicians or professionals with master’s-level backgrounds in related disciplines. The 42.5-credit program offers research training through a series of required and elective courses. In addition, students complete a research thesis under the joint supervision of a local research adviser and a member of the faculty of the Department of Epidemiology at HSPH.
The program begins with a core set of required courses in introductory epidemiology and biostatistics. Students who are physicians may fulfill this requirement by enrolling in the June Course in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics or in the Summer Program for Clinical Effectiveness and introductory coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics. All students may begin with the introductory epidemiology and biostatistics courses offered through the Summer Session for Public Health Studies.
