Immigration and Integration Studies Project

Overview

old map (old_map.jpg) The Immigration and Integration Studies Project is a new, university-wide program directed by Edward Schumacher-Matos, Robert F. Kennedy Visiting Professor in Latin American Studies at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and housed at the Pop Center.

Prompted by interest among faculty and students to share immigration-related research across disciplines, the Project and its approximately twenty-person Faculty Steering Committee (with representation from HSPH, FAS, KSG, HLS and HGSE) will:

  • Host monthly seminars to showcase interdisciplinary, immigration-related research across the University;
  • Launch a quantitative research platform at the Pop Center to support the data needs for some immigration-related research;
  • Initiate programs and workshops that include junior faculty, post-docs and graduate and undergraduate students; and
  • Develop a clearinghouse of university and area courses, programs and volunteer activities for faculty and students
