Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies

Bell Fellowships

Scheduled Activities

1. Center Seminars and Special Events - The HCPS's regularly scheduled seminars both encourage interdisciplinary exchange and also allow for more specialized exchange that helps the Center's Working Groups move their intellectual agendas forward. In addition the Center hosts sessions on data management and qualitative/quantitative research methods.

2. Work in Progress Lunches- Informal seminars provide a forum for Center members to present a work-in-progress and to benefit from the critical comments and ideas of colleagues in terms of the hypotheses being tested, analytical methods being used, data collection issues, etc. All fellows and visiting scholars will present at least one work-in-progress during the year as part of their participation in Center activities.

Presenters should prepare a draft of their work-in-progress to be distributed the week in advance of the presentation. The first 20 minutes of the hour is devoted to a presentation, followed by group feedback and constructive discussion.
