When you were a child or young adult, was there someone in your life—a teacher, neighbor, relative, coach, friend, or boss—who encouraged you, showed you the ropes, and helped you become who you are today? That person was a mentor to you.

January is National Mentoring Month, and Thursday, January 15, 2015 is Thank Your Mentor Day.

Join many others in honoring an important mentor in your life.

Ways to Honor Your Mentor:

As a highlight of National Mentoring Month 2015, Thank Your Mentor Day™ will be celebrated January 15. On that day, many Americans will reach out to thank or honor those individuals who encouraged and guided them, and had a lasting, positive impact on their lives.

These are simple ways you can thank your mentor:

  1. Contact your mentor directly to express your appreciation;
  2. Express your gratitude on social media with a message and use #SomeoneWhoMatters and #MentoringWorks;
  3. Pass on what you received by becoming a mentor to a young person in your community;
  4. Make a financial contribution to a local mentoring program in your mentor’s honor.

You can download a Thank you card from the National Mentoring Month Campaign Marketing Materials page.

*Thank Your Mentor Day™ is an initiative of the Harvard School of Public Health.
