At this workshop, HSPH students who attended the 2013 Winter Session Trip to China course presented their observations and analyses regarding electronic health care development in Minhang District in Shanghai, China. Harvard students were particularly interested in learning about health care quality and patient satisfaction.
The health information system that is used in community health centers in Minhang District was discussed in detail. Students also explored how the electronic health system can be applied to resource-poor areas of China, such as Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province. Dr. Mehlika Toy, Research Fellow at China Initiative and a Takemi Fellow at HSPH presented her study on Hepatitis B epidemiology and control in China. She also introduced a decision science model on HBV control.
