FAQs

How can I let the Office for Student Affairs know that I will attend Commencement?

All Harvard Yard and HSPH Commencement tickets must be ordered via the online Commencement Information and Response Form [CIRF]. You will receive a link to this form by email on April 1.

Please note: GSAS students should order HSPH tickets through the CIRF and should order their tickets for the morning ceremony in the Yard through GSAS.

I will be out of town when ticket packets are available for pick up. How can I get my tickets?

If you are unable to pick up your Commencement ticket packet in person, please make arrangements through the CIRF to have your packet mailed to you or picked up by an authorized person.

Is there seating available for those with disabilities?

Yes, there is seating available for people with disabilities. This is by reservation and ticket only at both the Harvard Yard and HSPH ceremonies.

Please see the Disability Information Page for more information on disability accommodations/seating for graduates and guests at both the yard and HSPH ceremonies. If you have specific questions prior to that date, feel free to contact the Office for Student Affairs, studentaffairs@hsph.harvard.edu.

What should I do about lunch in the short time between the two ceremonies?

Because of the limited time between the two ceremonies, we provide free lunches for all graduates. Students must pre-order this lunch via the CIRF.

Many students decide to order lunches for their families to make the transition between the two ceremonies easier, although other families make arrangements to eat in the Longwood area outside of HSPH. All three Longwood Harvard Schools are graduating at the same time so local restaurants are very busy.

To order bag lunches for your guests, please indicate your preference on the CIRF form and mail or bring your payment to the Office for Student Affairs by Friday, April 24. Please write your HUID number on your check.

You may also pay online but please note there is a fee. Click on the Lunch link in the Graduate Information menu for more information.

Guest box lunches are $15 each.

Pre-ordered lunches will be available for pickup in the FXB Atrium 12pm – 1:30pm, you must present your lunch ticket to receive your lunch.

Please note: The HSPH cafeteria will not be open on Commencement Day.

I’m an international student and I have friends and family coming from abroad. In order to process a visitor’s visa, the embassy needs a letter from HSPH. How can I obtain this letter?

To request a written letter from the Office for Student Affairs inviting your international guest to the HSPH Commencement Ceremony, please complete the Visa Support Letter form.

What if I have more than 2 guests who would like to attend?

We understand that you may have many family and friends who would like to attend your graduation ceremony. We wish we could accommodate them all.

Morning Exercises in Harvard Yard are not managed by HSPH; each attending graduate is allocated two guest tickets. There is no possibility of more than two tickets.

Due to the very limited space available for our ceremony we cannot offer more than two tickets to each graduate. Not all graduates request two tickets, however, so we have a lottery for any remaining tickets after the deadline for response. Please watch Student News in April for details of the lottery.

There will be overflow seating in FXB G-11, G-12 and G-13. Guest tickets are not required for overflow seating.

Please visit the ticket link for more information.
