THE CYPRUS INITIATIVE FUND:
WHAT DOES IT SUPPORT?
The Cyprus Initiative Fund has been established to provide a consistent
source of revenue to support current use scholarships and research
opportunities over and above those funded by the Republic of Cyprus.
Following is a detailed description of those
ways in which philanthropic gifts to the Cyprus Initiative
Fund support the work of the Initiative:SCHOLARSHIPS:
Scholarship Opportunities at the HCP:
The Cyprus Initiative Fund provides scholarships for master's and doctoral students in the field of environmental health to augment the opportunities available through the Republic of Cyprus endowment funds. These scholarships are granted to master's and doctoral-level students from Cyprus and the Mediterranean region to cover tuition and living expenses during their training. Students are funded for up to four years. Doctoral students have the opportunity to spend up to 50 percent of their time in Cyprus at the Cyprus International Institute.E-Period Scholarship Opportunities:
Each year, fifteen masters-level students attend a four-week intensive seminar in January at the CII between the fall and spring semesters. This "E Period" provides an opportunity for students from the CII and the HSPH to work together on two intensive courses in environmental health and exchange experiences. The E-period often serves as an entry way into a full master's degree program. The Cyprus Initiative Fund helps to fund both tuition and living expenses for students from the Mediterranean region attending the E-Period courses.Scholarship Opportunities at the Cyprus International Institute: Short Courses and the One-Year Post Graduate Program
The CII focuses on the delivery of programs in Cyprus for the region's students, scholars, mid-career professionals and government officials. Training will include short courses and a One-Year Post-Graduate Program. Two- to five-day short courses, developed and taught by faculty from HSPH and the CII, offer practical courses to public health officials in a wide range of areas including air quality networks, air quality and energy in the work environment, solid waste management, air quality management, and risk assessment and management. The One-Year Post-Graduate Program, a post-graduate program offered and awarded by the CII, will enable prospective students from Cyprus, Greece, and other countries in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and North Africa to increase their knowledge and skills in environmental health. Gifts to the Cyprus Initiative Fund will provide scholarships and stipends for living expenses for students attending these programs.FACULTY AND RESEARCH SUPPORT:
