Graduating Students
It's graduation season! This Spring some of Epi's finest are graduating from HSPH. Some are staying in Boston, while others are criss-crossing the globe and spreading their epi-know-how far beyond the confines of Kresge. Best of luck to all the graduates: You will certainly be missed, but we all expect you'll do great things in this new chapter of your lives. And please stay in touch!

Roland Merchant- I'm continuing as Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Community Health, at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. My research concerns HIV testing, HIV post-exposure prophylaxis, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual assault, and infectious disease-related aspects of substance abuse.
Anshu Mohllajee- I will be moving back to wonderful California in the end of June after 12 years of roaming around the South, Midwest, and East Coast. I'll be heading back with my fiancé who will be starting his cardiology fellowship in San Francisco. I plans to spend the next couple of months planning the wedding (which will be in October in Palo Alto, California) and finding my dream job as a reproductive epidemiologist.
Angela Paradis
Jessica Paulus- This summer I'll be working as an Assistant Dean for Harvard Summer School, and in the fall will be focusing on teaching epidemiology at HSPH and Brandeis University. In the longer term, I hope to stay involved with lung cancer research and may pursue a post-doc abroad in 2009 at IARC or Karolinska.
Ghasi Phillips
Jeremy Rassen
Julia Simard- I'm heading to the Karolinska in the fall to start a two year postdoc in Clinical Epidemiology. The details are all still to be worked out, but that's the short version. In between tying up loose ends with work here, I’m going to be traveling this summer, visiting friends and family around the States, before heading off to Stockholm.
Jennifer Stark- I'll be continuing on with a post-doc at HSPH working with Meir Stampfer and Lorelei Mucci on prostate cancer.
Sarah Taubman- I've started a NRSA postdoc fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm working jointly with a biostatistician and a psychiatrist, applying causal inference methods to research in depression treatment.
Chu-Lin Tsai- I will start to do a post-doc at Channing after graduating
Master of Science
Bibi Alamiri- I grew up and went to medical school in Kuwait, one of the Gulf States in the Middle East. After graduating, I felt that I needed to broaden my horizons and obtain training that was not available back home. Therefore, I decided to move to the United States to train in psychiatry, a clinical field widely deficient and yet extensively needed. At the beginning of my formation, I realized the importance and influence of medical research in ones practice. "Evidence-based medicine" had become the paradigm by which many health care professionals now abide to. However, what struck me was the ostensible complexity of defining sound research methodology and practice in the setting of an extensively intricate group of disorders. The wealth of scientific questions that arise in the practice of psychiatry is overwhelming. I developed an interest in the issue of gene-environment interaction in the development of affective disorders in women and children. This Fall, after graduating from the SM1, I will be entering the doctoral program in epidemiology at HSPH as a part-time student. Simultaneously, my clinical formation will continue at the MGH/McLean Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency. I am confident that this combination of clinical and epidemiological expertise will better equip me to answer these fundamental questions.
Stella Aslibekyan- This fall, I will be starting a Ph.D. program in Epidemiology at Brown University. My advisor will be Dr. Ana Baylin, a HSPH alumna! During my doctoral program, I hope to continue exploring my interests in cardiovascular disease and epidemiologic methods.
Abigail Bushman
Divay Chandra
Oluwole Fadahunsi- My future plan is to work in Health Care consulting because of the challenge I believe it would offer me. Working in a position where I would continually be challenged to provide solutions to other people's problems is what I look forward to. And with a bit of experience and luck I might be running my own firm back in my country in the not too distant future.
Mark Francis
Susana Garcia Gutierrez

Preetika Muthukrishnan- I am planning to take a month long break and spend time with my parents who are coming over from India to visit and attend my graduation. After which I will be working part time with my advisor Professor Megan Murray and other research related activities. One of my goals is to enhance my experience in epidemiology and clinical research. I am also planning to apply for a residency in Internal medicine this year; this is another step in the process of becoming a successful clinical researcher.
