Funding for graduate programs can come from a variety of sources, including but not limited
to:
• Departmental (partial awards on a yearly basis for returning students)
• Doctoral training grant stipend/tuition awards (NIH funding through department)
• Non-institutional awards (selective private/partial awards specific criteria for eligibility)
• Loans and grants through Student Financial Services
• Loans/scholarships that may be available from the student's home country or state
While the department makes every effort to secure as many funding opportunities for new

are encouraged to seek out as many different sources of funding as early as possible.

Pre/Post Doctoral Fellowships in the Department of Epidemiology
The department of Epidemiology has a long tradition of excellence in research and training. The department is considered the largest department within the school (number of faculty, students and research support) including over 100 faculty and researchers.
The department works closely with other school departments, and has become known for the numerous cohort studies and population studies conducted, the most notable being the Nurses Health Study I, II. The School of Public Health is not only located in the Longwood Medical area with close proximity to the Harvard Medical and Dental Schools, but enjoys strong relationships with the Teaching Hospitals and Research Labs in the area.
Doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers can apply for funding through NIH training grants in the Epidemiology department. Applicants submit the documents (see info below) and applications are reviewed as received. Please note that NIH funding does restrict trainee eligibility to US citizens or permanent residents only, and funding is contingent upon funding awards to the program each year.
