Roxbury Prep Tutoring Program

Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity at the Harvard Chan School? Join the Roxbury Prep Tutoring Program!

Meet Our Tutoring Team!

Being a tutor through this program will give you the opportunity to teach and mentor students in Boston. Currently, math and science tutors are needed at Roxbury Prep Charter School, a nearby middle school that serves 5-8th grade students. Nearly all of the students at Roxbury Prep are students of color residing in Boston, with over 75% qualifying for free or reduced-priced lunch.

  • Who: Anyone in the Harvard Chan School community is welcome to apply! No prior tutoring experience needed. You will be joining a community of 26 tutors (14 students, 5 post-docs, 1 faculty, 6 staff from the Harvard Chan School), who are dedicated and passionate about mentoring and teaching students.
  • What: Currently we place tutors in 6-8th grade science, and 5th, 6th and 8th grade math depending on your expertise, preference, and availability.
  • Where: Roxbury Prep Charter School; 120 Fisher Avenue, Roxbury, MA (10-15 min walk from Longwood)
  • When: Mondays and Thursdays (4-5pm). Science tutoring occurs on Mondays and math tutoring on Wednesdays. We ask tutors to commit at least once per week. Cabs are provided for the way back to the Harvard Chan School during the winter months.

Please fill out this brief application form, if you are interested.
