What happened at this years awards ceremony?

This year, 55 individuals and seven team projects award winners were honored from each of Harvard’s 12 plus Schools and departments. Over 200 individuals and team projects were nominated, reflecting the breadth and scope of sustainability initiatives across Harvard.

The videos to the right were shown during the ceremony.  The first video, produced for the Green Carpet Awards, features students and staff at Harvard taking individual actions to make our campus a greener, healthier place to live, work and learn. The second video is five Harvard University professors that speak about confronting the challenge of climate change on campus and beyond. The last video, is a sustainability music video produced by Harvard University student Akshay Sharma ’14 in anticipation of Earth Day 2011. Akshay is a student REP with the Office for Sustainability and FAS Green Program.

HSPH Green Carpet Awards Winner, 2011

Several HSPH members were nominated for making the School more sustainable for Harvard’s second annual Green Carpet Awards.  For more information about this year’s winners and nominees, click on their photographs for a summary of their work here at HSPH. HSPH Team Project Winner: 90 Smith St.

GCA - 90 Smith St. Thumb (90_smith_exterior_225.jpg)During the renovation of 90 Smith Street, the HSPH facilities team used lease negotiations to influence the owner/developer to incorporate sustainable features in the building, including the HVAC system, insulation, and LED lighting. This is in addition to the many green features of the HSPH fit-out, including a project 28% reduction in energy use.
