Phone Book Campaign

HSPH Reduces Phone Book Intake 100%

Fewer Phone Books = More Trees & Less Waste

Every year, Harvard produces over 24,000 phone books that are distributed across the University, but this year – 6,000 (25%) fewer phone books will be produced (about 6,300 lbs – the size of 7 male polar bears!).  In collaboration with University Information Services (UIS), the distributor of the phone books, the Office for Sustainability contacted schools and departments to see if they wanted to reduce their order.  HSPH reduced their phone book intake by 100%, coming in at #1 with 1740 phone books reduced.

Other resources that have been reduced that are similar in effort around HSPH are junk mail, internal news sources like HSPH Now, the Gazette, etc. Read more.
