Research

Chris Hager’s research and teaching focus on state regulation of health care and public health, health care access, and legislation as a tool for policy change. Chris has served on the staff of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, most recently as Chief Health Counsel in the Office of the Speaker during the development, enactment and first three years of implementation of the historic health reform law passed in 2006.  She is the former Deputy Director of the Division of Public Health Practice at HSPH, and was the first Senior Fellow appointed at the Schneider Institute for Health Policy at Brandeis University’s Heller School. Chris was the Director of the Massachusetts Health Policy Forum and a member of the editorial staff of the New England Journal of Medicine.
