I am interested in developing new statistical methodology and solving problems with broad ranging impacts, often in the field of public health. My work has been motivated by a variety of topics including neuroscience, air pollution, and smoking. My contributions have ranged from developments in foundational theory to analyses of current policy. ?The methodological focus of my dissertation research was concerned with tessellations of random point patterns. Since then, my research has focused on environmental science and policy.
I am also interested in open source education. David Diez and I started the Open Introduction project to make educational resources in statistics free to use and easy to customize. The corner stone of this project is an elementary statistics text that will be made freely available on the web at openintro.org.
